Gossaye Tesfaye, born in April 1975 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a distinguished Ethiopian singer and songwriter celebrated for his contributions to the nation’s music scene. Growing up in Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open markets, he was deeply influenced by the vibrant cultural milieu of his surroundings. Gossaye's formal education began at Yekatit 23 Elementary School and continued at Kolfe Comprehensive Secondary School, where his passion for music was cultivated. During his high school years, he showcased his talents in the Red Cross Music Society Group, performing for peers and nurturing his vocal artistry.

Gossaye embarked on his professional career in 1993, performing in prominent nightclubs across Addis Ababa, eventually collaborating with the Kistane Band. His debut album, Evangadi, released in 2004 in partnership with Alemayehu Hirpo, marked a significant milestone in his career. Subsequent albums, including Satamagn Bila (2007) and Siyamish Yamegnal (2019), demonstrated his artistic evolution and ability to address themes ranging from cultural identity to socio-political commentary. In 2024, he released the single "Zim," a poignant tribute to legendary Ethiopian musicians, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and influential artist.
