Teyim | ጠይም
Meaning
This romantic ode compares a lover to precious natural phenomena – the September rain and summer moon. The singer uses exquisite metaphors: “መዉደድሽ አለልኝ” (“Your love sustains me”) and “የኔ ጠይም ዓለም” (“My dark world”), suggesting the lover brings both nourishment and beauty to his life. The verses describe an intoxicating relationship where even pain (“ስቀሽ እያከምሽኝ” – “You hurt me while healing me”) becomes part of the passion. The chorus’s repetition of “የኔ ጠይም” (my dark) paradoxically celebrates how this love colors his world, transforming darkness into something beautiful. It’s ultimately about finding complete fulfillment in one person who becomes your entire universe.
